A Flat Circle

Lead Writer –  Alex Ripper
Co-writer – Patrick Barton, Mel Kay
Director – Patrick Barton
Producer – Arnold Wong

A Flat Circle is the darkly comic unmasking of a dysfunctional family’s secrets and lies during a dinner celebrating the return of their prodigal son, as each member’s misconceptions about the past are revealed through dramatic and musical performances morphing with multimedia – MUST SEE @ FringeWorld2016.”

“Two years after his father’s death, Charlie has finally come home. To celebrate, his mother Victoria has invited his brother George, a struggling playwright, and his sister Diane, a successful corporate trader, to a dinner in his honour. But Charlie has other ideas. What ensures is the unravelling of a series of misconceptions about the family’s history, who they once were and what they have become. At its centre is an act of domestic violence whose origins are still obscure and whose effects are yet to be unmasked.”

“… the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time.” (T.S. Eliot). What will Charlie find?  Will his family still be the same strangers wearing the same masks?

Following the successful production of “Hamlet” in FringeWorld 2014, the Graduate Dramatic Society of WA (GRADS) is proud to present “A Flat Circle” written and performed by talented WA performers including WAAPA graduates.
